Segments

Segments

Segments are special audio clips designed for Intros and Outros. Unlike Ads, which are inserted dynamically based on probability, Segments are structural parts of your show branding.

Scoping

Segments use a hierarchical scoping system. This allows you to set defaults at a high level and override them for specific shows.

  1. Podcast Scope: Applies only to a specific podcast. (Highest Priority)
  2. Virtual User Scope: Applies to all podcasts owned by a specific user.
  3. Organization Scope: Applies to all podcasts in your entire account. (Lowest Priority)

Example: You can set a generic “Powered by MyPlatform” outro at the Organization level, but a specific user can override it with their own custom outro.

Creating a Segment

POST /v1/segments { "type": "intro", // or 'outro' "scope": "podcast", // 'podcast', 'virtual_user', or 'organization' "scopeId": "pod_123" // Required if scope is 'podcast' }

Linking Audio

Just like Ads and Episodes, you must link a processed Audio file to the segment.

PUT /v1/segments/{segmentId}/link-audio { "audioId": "audio_..." }

How they Apply

Once a segment is active:

  • Intros are automatically stitched to the very beginning of the file (00:00:00).
  • Outros are automatically stitched to the very end of the file.

This happens dynamically. If you update the Segment audio, all future downloads of the associated episodes will contain the new Intro/Outro.
