Episodes

Episodes are the core content units of a podcast.

The Lifecycle

  1. Draft: Created but incomplete. Not visible in RSS.
  2. Audio Linked: An audioId has been associated with the episode.
  3. Published: Visible in the RSS feed (if pubDate has passed).

Creating an Episode

POST /v1/episodes x-virtual-user: user_123 { "podcastId": "pod_...", "title": "Episode 1: The Beginning", "description": "Welcome to our first episode!", "episodeType": "full", "season": 1, "episode": 1 }

Linking Audio

An episode is invalid without audio. You must upload the audio first (see the Audio section) and then link it.

PUT /v1/episodes/{episodeId}/link-audio { "audioId": "audio_..." }

This triggers a re-validation of the episode. If the audio is processed and done, the episode becomes eligible for publishing.

Scheduling

You can schedule an episode for future release by setting the pubDate in the future.

  • Status: Must be set to published.
  • RSS Behavior: The RSS generator respects the pubDate. If it is in the future, the item is excluded from the feed until that time is reached.

Validation

You cannot publish an episode if:

  • It has no linked audio.
  • The linked audio is still processing or failed.
